If you want to develop firefox extensions, be careful even minor version up.
Today, I have trouble about this.

Before 1.0.3, we can write,

var searchStr = focusedWindow.__proto__.getSelection.call(focusedWindow);

But after 1.0.4, we must write,

var searchStr = focusedWindow.getSelection().toString();

I hope this can help you.

When Apple unveiled Dashboard widget, Konfabulator complained about Apple's way of business.
Konfabulator developed Windows version. But this made their life shorter.

In my opinion, to earn money with utility program is hard or impossible.

Podcast is not for only music. For example, "ITConversations" provides Mac OS X Conference speech by podcast.

One of the problems using linux on desktop is the printing.

One of the big problem has solved today.

PDA is very useful. I take PDA with me for 15 years.
Now my PDA is SL-C3000.

This PDA is based linux. It has 4GB hard drive. I usually use emacs on it.
Today SL-C3000 escaped from my hand and hit on the ground.
LCD display shows nothing after this incident.

I took it to SHARP's maintenance center in Tabata, north part of Tokyo.
They will repair it within a week.

I felt something lost in my life.

Every Fedora release occupied my hard drive. But most of them were removed within a few weeks.

Today I tried to install Fedora Core 4. It shows good performance and good function.
Gnome is beautiful, firefox is quick to show every web pages. OpenOffice can read and write office documents.

Evolution and connector for exchange fits my expectation. With this tool I can read and write exchange mails and schedules.

The most important thing is fedora core 4 can work very good performance even on vmware.

This release will stay more than a month on my hard drive.

Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of my favorite artists. He did live tour this summer.

His last live was almost 10 years ago.

He is now interested in "lohas" life style. He emphasis that his live tour is totally free from CO2.

I like his music. But I can not agree his way of life. This may come from the generation gap from he and I.
His age can not free from ideology. But I can.

In Japan, we have a custom to send and receive gift in summer. It is called "chugen".

Every year a friend of mine sends me fresh fruit as chugen.

Last week he sent me big gift box. Many peaches are inside it. From this week peaches are ripe, so we enjoy them very much.

Peaches bring good season's greetings.

Japan is famous for earthquakes.

The work "tsunami" is brought from Japanese. From many years ago, Japanese people face earthquakes. And today I met relatively big earthquake in Tokyo.

When I was in Starbucks in Shinagawa, the building shaked and big noise rised everywhere.
Every train except some subway has stooped for four hours. I could not return home.

To foreign people who wants to visit Japan, are you ready for earthquakes?

Mozilla org announced today, they will skip firefox 1.1. Its next version will be 1.5.
And release will be postponed to September. (maybe more I guess)

So shocked. How my book will be overcome this situation?

But I felt the lack of functions in Deer Park alpha2. It was very hard to write
firefox book with this version.

This will help me.

秋葉原にあるwakhok東京校にJavaOne参加者からの報告会があるというのでのこのことでかけていく。

いくらJavaOneが魅力的なイベントだといっても日本から参加できる人は限られている。私もなんとかして参加しようと毎年画策しているが、今年も行けなかった。

で、行った方からお話があるというので聞いてきたわけだ。写真が多く紹介されていて、開発者の熱気が感じられてとてもおもしろい。

来年こそ行こう。

何か大幅に変わりそうなんだけど、情報が少なすぎる。どうやって作ったらいいのでしょう。

Sectionalism is one of the characteristics of Japanese people.
This lays everywhere in Japan. From small size organization to large one.
Objectives of the organization are changed to small one. And this small objectives are changed to more smaller one.
At last, the sum of these small objectives means nothing to the organization.

How can I improve this culture?

In Tokyo, the loop train line called "Yamanote line" divides the city center to suburb.

The size of the "Inside Yamanote line area" is about the same size of the Manhattan Island.
Price of house in this area is very high. Maybe the highest of the world.
But actually this place is the most convenient place in the world, too.

In Japan, today is bank holiday, "the day of the sea".

I'm not sure what is the meaning of this day. Japanese politicians often make meaningless things.

Anyway, I'm writing the scripts of my new book all day.

Functions, which are related to Unicode conversion, do not have enough function yet.

log4rss is software tool to enable programers to write code easy for record application log.
Its characteristic feature is new log will be published into rss format.

RSS is widely spread. There are many open source rss reader.
Web browser has rss reader function, like safari, firefox.

log4rss can be very good solution.

Actually, dead day was yesterday. Today, I submitted abstract of next paper to ISFR organization.

Of course, the content is not written yet. But it exists in my head.

One problem is the date of ISFR is just the same date of JavaOne Japan.
ISFR will be held in Kobe, west city of Japan. And Java One Japan will be held in Tokyo.

6月からスポーツクラブに通いだしたのだが、なかなか体重が減らない。

Prof. Bryant said to me that Drama Theory is entering from development era to application era.

Drama Theory must be useful for our business analysis.
Not only international issues but also business issues.

I will try to apply it to my business issue. This experience will be wrote into my new paper next year.

"Gagaku" is traditional Japanese music and dance.

In the banquet of AESCS2005, Gagaku performance was introduced.
I am a Japanese but it is the first time to watch it. Even for me, it was very strange. Its sound and dance shows Japan belongs to ASEAN culture area.

Clothes look alike to the one of Southeast Asia well. But some modification must be added.

In AESCS 2005 ( Agent-based Approaches in Economic and Social Complex Systems), my presentation spend some wasteful time with attendees.

In the afternoon, I met Prof. Jim Bryant in Tokyo Institute of Technology. He is one of the founders of Drama Theory.
I am so lucky to attend his lecture and after the lecture, we went to Chinese restaurant.
I hope I can contribute this theory for applying real business environments.

Tomorrow, I will make presentation. And today I am making its material.
"Keynote", which is the name of software I use, is good tool. But I hate gorgeous but contentless presentation.
I prefer just contentless presentation. It is the reason why my presentation has very few contents.

Webcast is very convenient way to know the contents of keynote speeches.

WWDC, JavaOne, almost every important conference offers webcast of their keynotes.

Today, I am watching the webcast of JavaOne with tears. Because I should have participated in this conference.

Webcast brings more attendees next year. I want to tell it to the sponsor of the conferences.

To check the interchangeability of extensions, I start to use deer park 1.

But frankly speaking, alpha version is actually alpha version.

My template of extension is not work well. Deer park 1 crashes after installing my extension.
(But next time I installed the same extension, it works. I do not know why.)

I am now writing a book for development of firefox extensions. It will take more time.

After Steve Job's keynote speech, I am waiting the day.
Podcast is integrated iTunes now. Many podcasts are listed into iTunes music store. And users can easily subscript them. Of cource files are transfered into iPod automatically.

Apple can create culture, not just products.

In Japan, TV CM is the most effective source to advertise yet.
My TV displays CM of ask.jp frequently in these days.

CEO of Ask.jp said, they will focus to "good business person" as their customer.

I do not need search engine more than google. It shows I am not a good business person.

Newspaper told me one company lost their customers' private information via Internet.
I know the CIO of that company, so I contacted him.

He told me that he had already quitted that company.

Even in Japan, employee often change their job recently.

If all the attendee are from the same company, it is easy to manage the meeting.
Sharing backgrounds, follow organizational culture, lead conclusion.

But, attendee are from various companies, I can not force to follow our culture.
Some attendee insists his/her opinion with large voice.

Today, I met this situation. No one likes him, but he seems not to mention it at all.

AppleのWWDCのキーノートスピーチ、SunのJavaOneのキーノートスピーチを見ていて共通するのは、戦略パートナーということで、日本人が登壇したことだ。

どちらかといえば、アメリカ人が作ったビジョンなり戦略なりをはいはいと言って実行する役割のようで、複雑な気がする。

それはそれで大事なことなのだが。

Finally I found the template of firefox extension. With this template, it is easy to develop firefox extension.
Step by step, getting knowledge, it is getting fun.

やはりこのことに触れないわけにはいかないだろう。

MacintoshがIntelのCPUで動くようになるなんて。どうせならば、AMDのOpteronの方が良さそうなのだが。ということはともかく、長期的なロードマップの提示とそれの実行能力というのはパートナーシップにおいてとても大切なんだね。

会社に限らず人もそうだね。

正確には出す場所を間違えていた。最終稿はそれ専用のフォームがあったのだね。学会事務局から指摘されて驚いた。
